Meet the Presenter, Chip Dicks:
Chip Dicks is a partner in the Richmond Office of with Gentry Locke law firm. In addition, Chip is founder of the FutureLaw Real Estate School through which he conducts real estate, landlord and tenant, and fair housing seminars.

Chip has more than 40 years of experience in real estate, zoning and billboard sign law. Chip served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1983 through 1989 and served as a member of the Virginia Housing Commission. He has become the institutional knowledge on real estate issues in the Virginia General Assembly and for more than 35 years, has been the principal scribe of real estate and landlord tenant related legislation in Virginia. Chip serves as legislative counsel for companies and organizations that represent interests including real estate, landlord-tenant, technology, solar energy development, outdoor advertising, the circuit court clerks and other varied companies and organizations.

Chip was named Outstanding Young Virginian by the Virginia Jaycees and received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Methodist University. He has served in various leadership capacities of numerous charitable, civic and professional organizations. Chip has also been selected as “legal elite” by the Virginia Business Magazine in the practice of lobbying and public policy. In 2019, Chip was inducted into the Virginia Law Foundation for his years of legal service.

Fair Housing Certification Course

VAMA’s very own Fair Housing course, which will outline the various key components of Fair Housing as well as delve into some of the current critical issues at the forefront of Fair Housing today.  Students will be challenged to look past what they “know” and think about each fair housing topic anew.

Keeping Fair Housing programming fresh and relevant will help students and industry professionals think about it in new ways while maintaining the core education on protected classes and the history of Fair Housing laws.

VAMA intends to foster higher individual compliance and awareness by increasing the student’s understanding of the nuances of Fair Housing law and practice.  Join us for this 3-hour course to renew not only your Fair Housing Certification but your understanding of the law.

Virginia Fair Housing Certification Approval:  This course is approved by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Real Estate and Fair Housing board to meet the Fair Housing Certification requirement in the state of Virginia.  After completing the course, students must complete the required application steps with DPOR to obtain their Virginia Fair Housing Certification.  Once application is received and approved by DPOR, students will receive notification of their Fair Housing Certification approval.  Students must review this certification every 2 years as required by law.

1st Annual Bowling Tournament!
Sign up your teams to bowl away the afternoon with free snacks and drinks (including drink tickets for the bar)!  There will be prizes for the winning teams.  Don't want to bowl? Join us and cheer them on as there will be a prize for Best Team Spirit, which will go to the team with the best cheering and team representation (matching outfits, best cheering, etc)!  We look forward to celebrating the half-way mark through the year!
