Join us for a Professional Development Workshop lead by Todd Lee Goen, member of the Department of Communication at Christopher Newport University.


The seminar will focus on the importance of quality communication by demonstrating how to successfully implement three key components of communication that will effectively engage any audience:  written, non-verbal and verbal. The instructor will cover many aspects that affect us all, including impression management, electronic profiles, grammar, professionalism, conversation skills, and body language. 


Who should take this class?  Anyone and everyone that interacts with prospects and residents on a regular basis. Even seasoned employees can benefit from this communication refresher!

Todd Lee Goen is beginning his sixth year as a faculty member in the Department of Communication at Christopher Newport University where he teaches courses in interpersonal, nonverbal, intercultural, and family communication. In addition, he directs the department’s internship program, serving approximately 40 students each year. He is a Harding University Honors College Graduate with a BA in Computer Science, French, and Vocational Ministry. He holds a MA in Communication from the University of Arkansas with an emphasis in interpersonal communication, and completed doctoral coursework at the University of Georgia with emphases in relational communication, communication theory, and quantitative research methods. Prior to joining the faculty at CNU, he held academic appointments at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, where his primary teaching responsibility was business and professional speaking, and Clemson University, where his primary teaching responsibility was public speaking. Much of his research and teaching focus on nonverbal behavior and intercultural
