 RLRAC's individual nominations for the 2019 Star Awards are now open. These awards celebrate professionals within our chapter and the winners demonstrate characteristics that benchmark success. Do not miss out on an opportunity to be a part of this prestigious awards program! 

Nominations close on August 16, 2019.


2019 Individual Awards (2 new categories)

Self-nomination is not permitted. An individual may be nominated by their superiors or their peers. The person nominating an individual for an award must provide a recommendation for said award. Past winners may not enter the same award category for which they received a past award unless 2 years have passed since the year for which they won said award. For example, if an individual won "Leasing Professional" in 2018, they may not enter that same category again until 2020 but they may still enter any other category (if it is consistent with their job title). However, if they won in 2017 then they would be eligible to enter again in 2019.

Judging will take place in September (exact date and time of the interview will be given to the nominees at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled judging interview, except for leasing professionals who are secretly shopped by telephone).


Categories include:
  • Community Manager of The Year
  • Maintenance Supervisor of The Year
  • Maintenance Technician of The Year
  • Leasing Professional of The Year - Mystery shoppers will shop each leasing professional by phone. Nominees will be scored based upon their mystery shop performance. A combination of the scoring on their mystery shop and their recommendation will determine the winner of this category. 
  • NEW!  Best Supporting Role - This category is for any individual that contributes to the overall success of their team and supports the daily operations of the business. This can be for any position that provides strong team support, whether they are part of the leasing/office staff or the maintenance/grounds staff. The recommendation should provide an explanation (and examples) of how this person provides such support and betters their team. Once nominated, an appointment for their individual phone interview will be scheduled in September.
  • NEW!  Best Chapter Ambassador - This category is for individuals that are working to support and better their local association chapter. Their assistance may be with membership growth, improved event attendance or any other way that improves the benefits and quality of membership for this chapter. All entries (& recommendations) for this category will be reviewed by the Star Awards Task Force and the RLRAC Advisory Committees as they will vote to select a winner. 
At the award interviews, nominees will be asked a set of questions and they will be scored on their answers. A combination of the scoring at their interview and their recommendation will determine the winner of this category.  Nominees will receive a separate email, after nominations have closed, regarding an appointment for their scheduled phone interview. Each entry for individual award categories will be billed a single charge of $75 for their entry and it will include 1 ticket to the Star Awards event.  This is to ensure that they are present at the event to accept their award, in the event that they win. 


*Please note VAMA reserves the right to eliminate categories in which less than 3 entries were received.
